Terms of Service

1. Agreement

These Terms of Service are a binding agreement between you and Kopit governing your use of the Kopit application for macOS and the Kopit website. If you do not agree, do not use the App or Site.

2. License grant

Kopit is licensed, not sold. Subject to these Terms and your payment, we grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use the App on the number of devices permitted by your license. A free trial may be offered.

3. License keys and devices

Your purchase provides a license key tied to a limited number of devices. You are responsible for keeping your license key confidential. You may deactivate a device to free up a seat. We may validate your license periodically as described in our Privacy Policy.

4. Restrictions

• Do not copy, resell, sublicense, rent, or redistribute the App or your license key.
• Do not reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to derive source code except where the restriction is prohibited by law.
• Do not circumvent or tamper with licensing, update, or security mechanisms.
• Do not use the App for any unlawful purpose or in violation of these Terms.

5. Purchases and pricing

Kopit is offered as a one-time purchase. Prices are shown at checkout and may change for future purchases. Purchases are processed by our payment provider acting as Merchant of Record. Refunds are governed by our Refund Policy.

6. Updates

We may provide updates, bug fixes, and improvements. The App can check for and install updates as described in our Privacy Policy. We are not obligated to provide any particular update or support older versions indefinitely.

7. iCloud sync (optional)

Kopit Pro can sync your clipboard history across your own Macs using Apple iCloud (CloudKit). Sync is optional and off by default. It runs through your own iCloud account and uses your iCloud storage, and it is subject to Apple's iCloud terms in addition to these Terms.

You are responsible for your Apple ID, your iCloud storage, and the content you choose to sync. Your synced clipboard content is stored in your iCloud account, not on Kopit servers, and we cannot access it. See our Privacy Policy for how sync data is encrypted and handled.

8. Intellectual property

The App, Site, and related content, trademarks, and software are owned by Kopit or its licensors and are protected by intellectual property laws.

9. Disclaimer of warranties

The App and Site are provided as is and as available, without warranties of any kind. You are responsible for maintaining your own backups.

10. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Kopit will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or loss of data, profits, or goodwill. Our total liability will not exceed the amount you paid for the App in the twelve months before the claim.

11. Termination

These Terms apply until terminated. Your license terminates automatically if you breach these Terms. Upon termination, you must stop using the App and delete all copies.

12. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws applicable to your purchase, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. Disputes will be subject to courts of competent jurisdiction unless applicable law requires otherwise.

13. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The current version will be posted here with an updated Last updated date. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
